Hello and Welcome to my first blog! Finally – It’s about time!
This blog will be primarily about my weaving – I’m a hand weaver in Michigan. I work on floor looms creating scarves, shawls, throws, blankets and table linen. I work primarily with natural fibers. I prefer color and texture to pattern, but once and again like weaving 16 shaft patterns. I get a kick out of producing yardage, one of any project is not enough, not with the time it takes to make the warp, beam the warp, thread the warp, sley the warp and weave the warp?!…therefore I sell to offset the cost of this fibery passion!

I live in the country, in a quiet setting about 1 hour north of Detroit with my husband John and our dog Gidget and kitty, Marley.
I like making things like cold process soap. I enjoy canning in the fall and churning cream into ice cream. You’d probably classify me as the earthy type – but to juxtapose a bit, I love new techonology gadgets that employ great function and design, such as “anything Mac” like the iPhone, iTunes, wireless headphones, xm radio, wii and Dyson vaccuums! When my niece Audrey was about 12, she once asked how someone who made everything from scratch could like today’s technology. I’m living in the technology renaissance of today but have a strong inner pull to create using tools and or technology that was used in civilizations past. After working on a computer all day, only to hit the send button, projecting your current project into cyberspace, often never seeing it again could drive you to distraction. In theory, whitewashing the fence and looking back at the progress you made that day is essential to my core…. or in my case looking at jars of canned tomatoes on the shelf or 100 bars of soap in the box, or 20 yards of fabric on the take up beam is what makes me happiest.
We own and operate a graphics studio…so “making art” as John would say, is a daily experience, one way or another!
