Rag Rug Weaving Class
I’m offering a rag rug weaving class beginning, Saturday, January 31 at 10 am – 1 to 2 pm. The class will be 5 consecutive Saturdays at 10 am. In this class we will learn to dress the loom for rag rug weaving. You will create rag rug placemats, everything you learn will transfer to a larger loom for a regular size rug.
This class is perfect for beginners as I take you from the very beginning of figuring out how to calculate warp, measure the warp, beam the warp, thread, sley and tie on the warp, and finally weave with rags! The class is good for any level of weaver, but there will be an emphasis for beginners.
I will furnish the warp threads, the looms, all the tools. You will need to bring rag material. This can be old clothes, jeans, drapery material, old bedding material, or new fabric from the discount bins at fabric stores. You’ll need approximately 5 yards of material. Please wash the piece of fabric prior to coming to class. Bring your material to the first class to match warp thread color.
When you are finished, you will have 4-8 rag rug placemats. Rag rug weaving is fun and satisifying. The colors are easy to coordinate, the weaving is fast! You’ll enjoy the process and the finished product!

I just inherited a rug loom. It looks to be quite old and I have no idea on how to use the thing. I saw that you had a class in 2009 for the very beginner. I would like to know if you have a class scheduled for 2010. When, where, and how much does it cost to register for the class.
I think that my floor loom will need some replacement parts as well. Any ideas on where I could find them?
Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
Thank you.
When are there more classes WERE AARE THEY LOCATED
I can and will hold classes at your convenience. I generally do them in the Fall/Winter/Spring. But if there’s interest, I’ll hold them pretty much when you are able to do them.
Thanks.
